Mr. Klein brings over 35 years of executive leadership in healthcare and information technology services to the PAN Foundation. Since joining the PAN Foundation in 2014, Mr. Klein has expanded PAN’s capacity to help the growing number of patients who need financial assistance, strengthened PAN’s compliance program to ensure that PAN continues to fulfill its mission in strict compliance with regulations, and implemented new technology to enhance the patient experience and better support the needs of healthcare providers and pharmacists. Mr. Klein previously served as Senior Vice President for the Cystic Fibrosis Services specialty pharmacy and then as Senior Vice President for Patient Access Programs at the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Foundation.

Ayesha Azam

Ayesha Azam, Senior Director of Medical Affairs

Ms. Azam manages the clinical parameters of PAN’s assistance programs and oversees PAN’s provider and pharmacy outreach. Prior to joining the PAN Foundation, Ms. Azam worked at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation on a prior authorization solution and a genetic testing program. Ms. Azam has a Master of Science degree in Health Informatics Administration from the University of Maryland University College and Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Missouri – Kansas City.

Barbara Barb

Ms. Barb works closely with the Vice President of Operations to manage initiatives related to the Board of Directors, human resource administration and office administration. She has more than 25 years of experience working in nonprofit organizations in the areas of office administration, human resources and finance. She previously held positions at the Outdoor Advertising Association of America and the American Clean Skies Foundation. Ms. Barb has a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Stacey Brown

Ms. Brown works closely with the Director of Program Operations to evaluate and enhance PAN’s customer experience by implementing system and process improvements and managing and tracking customer and quality issues to resolution. She has more than 17 years of healthcare experience in contracting, network operations, pharmacy licensing and provider relations. Prior to joining the PAN Foundation, Ms. Brown was the Manager of Contracting and Project Management for Cystic Fibrosis Services (CFS) at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Mr. Cherande-Friedman is responsible for overseeing the operation and delivery of PAN’s patient assistance programs. Mr. Cherande-Friedman brings over 15 years of experience in operations, technology, finance, policy and analytics to the PAN Foundation. He previously held positions with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Bulfinch Group, B&D Consulting and Powell Goldstein. Mr. Cherande-Friedman has a Master of Health Science degree from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Denison University.

Megan Piette

Ms. Crout supports PAN’s external outreach initiatives, communications activities, and special projects. She previously worked with the National Audubon Society, and 2 Seconds or Less, an agricultural and health education organization operating in Zimbabwe. Ms. Crout has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Messiah College.

Ms. Eckert works with the marketing and communications team to execute a marketing and communications strategy that conveys PAN's mission, programs and strategic initiatives to its target audiences. Prior to joining the PAN Foundation, Ms. Eckert advanced communications initiatives for several nonprofits, including raising the profile of a network of 30 countries working toward universal health coverage at Results for Development and developing content marketing campaigns to promote global education at American Councils for International Education. Ms. Eckert has a master’s degree in Political Communication and Strategy from the University of Kent, Brussels School of International Studies.

 

Nechumah Getz

Ms. Getz works closely with the President and CEO to support PAN’s patient assistance programs, including project planning, project task and timeline management, project communication, stakeholder engagement and project documentation. Before joining the PAN Foundation, Ms. Getz was a Program Manager for Healthcare.gov where she oversaw a team of 70 who managed many aspects of the site. Prior to that, she worked for IBM for over 15 years in a variety of roles. Ms. Getz has a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources Management from the University of Maryland at College Park.

 Taida Horozovic

Ms. Horozovic manages the PAN Foundation’s digital media projects. She has nearly 20 years of experience in nonprofit and private sector organizational management. Prior to joining the PAN Foundation, Ms. Horozovic oversaw public relations projects at Pristop Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Open Society Fund BiH and OneWorld Southeast Europe. In 2004, Ms. Horozovic co-founded CURE, a BiH women’s rights foundation, and served as its director for seven years. Ms. Horozovic studied Mass Communications at Bloomsburg University and is an alumni of General Assembly D.C. for Digital Marketing and Visual Design.

Ms. Kuhta helps operate and monitor the PAN Foundation’s Compliance Program. Prior to joining the PAN Foundation, she worked in program management, leadership training and content development for the Girl Scouts Council. Ms. Kuhta holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Ramapo College of New Jersey.

Ms. La Motta works closely with the Vice President of Operations to develop and manage special initiatives in collaboration with departmental leads. Prior to joining the PAN Foundation, she held supervisory and clinical positions in primary care and worked as a Patient Services Specialist at East River Medical Imaging in New York City. Ms. La Motta holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a concentration in Pre-Health from Palm Beach Atlantic University.

Ms. Naples oversees PAN’s marketing and communications activities and implements strategies to promote PAN’s mission and initiatives to key stakeholders including donors, providers, patients and policymakers. In her prior role, she developed messaging for internal and external audiences, boosted PAN’s social media and web presence and worked across departments to produce and refine tailored communications. With agency-side health communications experience in the nonprofit and commercial sectors, Ms. Naples brings expertise in strategic planning, message and material development and social media strategy. Prior to joining the PAN Foundation, Ms. Naples supported biotech, medical technology and supportive care accounts at Spectrum Science Communications, and the US Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health at Hager Sharp. Ms. Naples has a Master of Public Health degree in Maternal and Child Health from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.

Ms. Niles oversees PAN’s relations and partnerships with the patient advocacy community and leads its public policy and advocacy initiatives. Before joining the PAN Foundation, Ms. Niles served for eight years as Chair, Medical Relations and Advocacy for the Together Rx Access program. Prior to that, she was President and CEO of the National Women’s Health Resource Center, now known as Healthy Women, for more than a decade. Ms. Niles has a Master of Business Administration degree from Baruch College, City University of New York, and an undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Rochester.

Amy Niles

Gary Owens, Medical Director

Dr. Owens leads PAN's efforts to identify and define new assistance programs for patients with life-threatening, chronic and rare diseases. Dr. Owens brings 30 years’ experience in healthcare management to this task. He served as the Vice President of Medical Management and Policy at Independence Blue Cross for 22 years, where he was responsible for medical and pharmacy management, technology evaluation and medical policy. Dr. Owens is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Jefferson Medical College. He has written over 100 articles and editorials on managed care, pharmacy and biotechnology, which have been published in American Health and Drug Benefits, The Journal of Managed Care Medicine, The American Journal of Managed Care, Journal of Managed Care and Specialty Pharmacy and Disease Management.

Ms. Patel oversees donor relations and identifies new donor and fund opportunities. Prior to joining the PAN Foundation, Ms. Patel was a Health Policy Associate at Applied Policy, where she worked with clients to understand and navigate the complexities of health policy and reimbursement issues, and provided client-specific analyses of health care policies, rules, regulations, and guidances, with a focus on the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Ms. Patel has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from James Madison University, and a Master in Public Health degree with a concentration in Health Management and Policy, from the University of North Texas Health Science Center.

Audrey Quartey

Ms. Quartey works closely with the Senior Director of Medical Affairs to develop and implement PAN's provider outreach strategy.  She has over 10 years of experience in the healthcare industry focusing on insurance coverage, reimbursement and access to care programs. Prior to joining the PAN Foundation, Ms. Quartey held positions with CareMetx, the Lash Group and Accenture. She is a certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Marketing from Syracuse University.

Scott Schlenoff

Mr. Schlenoff brings over 15 years of financial management experience to the PAN Foundation. Mr. Schlenoff was formerly a Controller at PAN Foundation. He previously worked at the Cystic Fibrosis Services, Inc. where he served as Controller and oversaw and managed all financial aspects of the organization. Mr. Schlenoff is a Certified Public Accountant. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland at College Park.

Mr. Shrestha works closely with the Vice President of Operations to assess, analyze and implement PAN’s requirements in new system implementations. Prior to joining PAN, Mr. Shrestha was a Senior Business Analyst at Fidelis Care, where he spearheaded the utilization management team. Mr. Shrestha has a Bachelor of Science degree from Methodist University and Master of Arts Degree in International Policy- Sustainable Development from Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.

Scott Schlenoff

Ms. Sriram assists the Director of Development with the day-to-day management of the donor portfolio and identification of new donor and disease fund opportunities. Prior to joining the PAN Foundation, Ms. Sriram held positions at Gazuntite, a health start-up company, where she worked on developing an app for heart failure patients, and the SCORE Concussion Clinic at the Children’s National Health System, where she provided data analysis to pediatric neuropsychologists to develop clinical assessment tools, improve mild Traumatic Brain Injury treatment, provide neurocognitive baseline testing for athletes, and educate parents, coaches, academic administrators and athletic directors on concussion recognition, response and assessment. Ms. Sriram has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences and a Health Policy Administration minor from Penn State University.

Mr. Straus is responsible for assisting the CFO in all accounting matters, including financial statement preparation, report writing, revenue tracking, expense analysis and bill paying. He has over 15 years of experience in running and managing the operations of accounting departments in the nonprofit, technology, and newspaper industries. Prior to joining the PAN Foundation, Mr. Straus worked as a consultant, assisting organizations with refining their accounting department operations. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Finance from Northeastern Illinois University.

Ms. Wang is part of the analytics team and is responsible for a variety of reporting and analytics activities, including strategy documentation, descriptive and advanced modeling and enterprise dashboard development. Ms. Wang has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Wuhan University and a Master of Science degree in Business Analytics from George Washington University.

Dr. Zhang works closely with the Senior Director of Medical Affairs to review the clinical parameters of PAN’s assistance programs, including its formularies and pipeline research, and conduct outreach to pharmacies and related professional groups. Dr. Zhang is a licensed pharmacist with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Shenandoah University Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy. She completed her undergraduate prerequisites at the University of Maryland College Park.

Ms. Zu is part of the analytics team and is responsible for discovering insights and identifying opportunities through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining and visualization techniques. Prior to joining the PAN Foundation, she held marketing and customer intelligence positions at Binary Fountain and worked as a Healthcare Actuary Analyst Intern for Korn Ferry Hay Group. Ms. Zu has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and Economics from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master of Science degree in Mathematics and Statistics from Georgetown University.
