About the Disease

Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) is a rare neurological disorder that causes progressive weakness and impaired sensory function in the legs and arms. CIDP is caused by the immune system damaging the myelin sheath of the body’s peripheral nerves.
