PAN’s Week of Action 2025

September 8 - 12, 2025, nationwide from our virtual action center

From September 8-12, 2025, we urged lawmakers to put patients first, focusing on a key issue each day. Together, we made a meaningful impact.

Keep the momentum going!

Week of Action 2025 is over, but our work advocating for healthcare access and affordability continues. It’s never too late to contact your lawmakers today about these critical policy issues and make your voice heard.

Extend ACA premium tax credits

Ask Congress to extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits. These credits help many Americans afford health insurance, but they will expire at the end of 2025. If Congress doesn’t act, many could face higher premiums and lose coverage, delaying or skipping necessary care. Show all action campaigns

Streamline prior authorization for Medicare Advantage patients

Patients enrolled in Medicare Advantage plans are facing harmful delays because of prior authorization rules that block or slow down needed treatment. In 2023, over 3 million requests were denied—yet 82% were overturned on appeal, showing patients are too often denied necessary care. Urge Congress to support the Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act (H.R. 3514 / S. 1816), which requires electronic and real-time prior authorization, clear decision timelines, and more transparency. Reintroduce the Safe Step Act: require an exemption process for step therapy

Our polling shows most adults (55%) who faced step therapy delayed their medication or treatment up to 11 weeks. “Fail first” (step therapy) policies require patients to try insurer-preferred drugs before getting the medication their provider prescribed. Ask lawmakers to support the reintroduction of the Safe Step Act—a bill that requires insurers to offer an exemption request process, plus quick processing when the patient’s life is at risk, and several other exemptions that streamline step therapy. Make obesity treatment medications accessible to millions on Medicare

Ask Congress to support the Treat and Reduce Obesity Act (TROA) (H.R. 4231/ S. 1973). This legislation will help ensure obesity treatment medications are accessible to millions of Medicare beneficiaries who currently do not have coverage through the federal program. Our recent polling finds that 85 percent of Medicare beneficiaries prescribed medications for obesity face insurance-related problems accessing those medications. Show all action campaigns
