Our transportation fund helps you pay for transportation to and from activities that improve your overall health.
You can use your grant to pay for transportation to:
- Grocery stores
- Medical appointments
- Social support
Note: this grant only covers travel costs, not the purchase of goods or other services.
Activate your card
You will receive a $500 prepaid Visa debit card in the mail 15-20 business days after your grant is approved. You must activate your card before you can use it for covered expenses.
We’ll email you confirmation that your card has been activated. This process often takes one business day or less.
If you have not received your card or an activation confirmation after 20 business days, contact us for help.
With a transportation grant, you can choose the right type of transportation for you, from gas for your car to a wheelchair-supported medical transport van to airfare and lodging.
The card can be used for:
- Airfare (tickets, fees)
- Car rental (car, insurance)
- Gas (only at the fuel pump, cannot be used to pay inside)
- Lodging, such as hotels or temporary housing
- Non-emergency medical transportation (shuttle service)
- Parking (lot, meter fees)
- Public transportation fares (bus, metro, train)
- Ride-share (app payments, fees)
- Taxi (fare)
- Tolls (electronic payment)
The card cannot be used for:
- Concierge services
- Food or groceries
- Gift cards
- Mileage reimbursement
- Non-transportation related goods or services
Be advised that all card activity is actively monitored, and we can cancel your grant if the card is used for any unintended or inappropriate purposes.
Your total daily spending limit is $350.
There are daily limits by category, listed below. Your card will be declined if you go over a spending limit without permission. Remember: we can increase limits for individuals with special circumstances.
- Airfare: $300
- Car rental: $100
- Gas: $75 ($150 limit per week)
- Hotel: $300
- Parking: $50
- Rideshare: $100
- Taxi, bus, or train fare: $100
Where to use your card
Visa cards are often accepted by businesses, medical offices, pharmacies, and more. You can use this online tool to search for specific merchants that will accept the card.
Cards should be swiped using the credit card option. No transaction fees or pin numbers are required.
The funds are withdrawn from your account immediately after the card is swiped and you can check your grant balance by logging in to your PAN portal or calling us.
