The PAN Foundation welcomes Ava Shivers as Vice President of Finance
The PAN Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Ava Shivers as Vice President of Finance. Ava brings over 30 years of financial leadership, with deep expertise in healthcare finance, systems transformation, and strategic planning. She will help lead the PAN Foundation’s financial strategy, ensuring continued excellence in financial stewardship while advancing PAN’s mission to accelerate access to affordable, equitable healthcare through financial assistance, advocacy, and education.
Throughout her career, Ava has held senior financial roles in a variety of healthcare settings, including skilled nursing, hospice, and acute care systems, where she has stewarded multimillion-dollar budgets and led cross-functional initiatives to improve transparency, accountability, and efficiency. Her leadership has directly contributed to improved financial systems and operational performance across multiple mission-driven organizations.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ava to the PAN Foundation,” said Scott Schlenoff, Chief Financial Officer. “Her wealth of experience and expertise—particularly in complex healthcare settings—will continue to ensure that the PAN Foundation leads the way in rigorous financial stewardship and management in service of our critical mission.”
Prior to joining the PAN Foundation, Ava held senior financial leadership roles across a range of nonprofit healthcare organizations. She served as the Divisional Controller at Hebrew Home of Greater Washington, Vice President of Corporate Finance at Dimensions Healthcare System, and Chief Financial Officer at The Washington Home & Community Hospices. In these roles, she led large-scale financial system overhauls, implemented process improvements to enhance financial transparency, and supported patient care delivery through more effective financial planning and resource management.
Most recently, Ava served as Senior Director of Finance and Administration at the Student Conservation Association, where she oversaw budgeting, forecasting, and financial operations for a national nonprofit and led initiatives to improve margin performance and financial literacy across departments.
In her new role, Ava will collaborate closely with PAN’s senior leadership to continue aligning the organization’s financial resources with its patient-focused mission. She will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of PAN’s financial assistance programs, which help reduce the out-of-pocket treatment costs for patients living with life-threatening, chronic, and rare diseases.
“I am blown away by the impact PAN Foundation makes in the lives of those unable to afford life-saving treatments,” said Ava Shivers, Vice President of Finance at the PAN Foundation. “Providing financial assistance, advocating for, and educating millions since its inception is a valiant and virtuous mission. I am honored to have the opportunity to work at PAN where we are transforming healthcare and improving the quality of life for millions, one person at a time.”
Ava is a Certified Public Accountant and holds both a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Loyola University Maryland.
