National polling shows that nearly half of adults in the US find it difficult to afford their healthcare costs. High costs are also the reason that some adults delay getting the care they need. This is why charitable patient assistance foundations, like PAN, exist.
In this column for Pharmaceutical Executive, PAN’s Chief Compliance and Privacy Office Mia Harmon explains the history of charitable patient assistance and the regulations and compliance rules that govern these foundations. She also discusses best practices for evaluating and working with foundations.
