Extra Help enrollment partnership with TailorMed expanding

The PAN Foundation and TailorMed announced today the expansion of their joint initiative to help eligible Medicare Part D patients enroll in the Social Security Administration’s Extra Help program, which can reduce their out-of-pocket medication costs by up to 85 percent.

Following a successful pilot program earlier this year, PAN and TailorMed, a leading patient financial navigation technology company, committed to a continuation of their partnership, helping new and existing PAN’s grant recipients apply for the federal program to alleviate healthcare burdens. Through the pilot program, more than 600 PAN grant recipients made an appointment with TailorMed’s financial navigator services team, TailorMed Complete, to learn about and apply for the Extra Help program.

The Extra Help program, also known as the Low-Income Subsidy program, helps people on Medicare with limited income and resources afford prescription drug program costs, like premiums, deductibles, and coinsurance. There are thousands of Medicare beneficiaries who are paying more than they should for their prescription drug coverage because they do not know they are eligible or need assistance applying for the program. The continued partnership between PAN and TailorMed will ensure more financially at-risk patients and their families can afford medical treatment through this program.

“Even with financial assistance for out-of-pocket medication costs, many of our patients struggle to afford their medical care,” said PAN Foundation President and CEO Kevin L. Hagan. “We’re excited to continue helping our grant recipients enroll in the Extra Help program with TailorMed Complete, alleviating some of the stress and financial burden of living with a serious or chronic disease.”

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with PAN and give even more patients access to the Extra Help program,” said TailorMed CEO and co-founder Srulik Dvorsky. “There are thousands of eligible Medicare beneficiaries who are paying too much for their treatment, and we will work together to remove financial barriers to care.”

The PAN Foundation has long advocated for Medicare reform, including the expansion of the Extra Help program, and provided an education hub to encourage eligible patients to learn about the program.
