The Patient Access Network Foundation celebrates 20 years of transforming lives and advocating for healthcare access, equity, and affordability
The Patient Access Network (PAN) Foundation is proudly celebrating 20 years of championing healthcare access, affordability, and equity for all. Since 2004, we have been driven by the belief that everyone deserves access to affordable, equitable healthcare. And, we have led the way in providing financial assistance to patients in need and advocating for policies that improve healthcare access so people can live the lives they deserve.
Some of our key accomplishments in our first 20 years include:
- Provided $4 billion dollars in life-changing financial assistance through more than 70 disease funds, helping 1.1 million patients across all 50 states and U.S. territories access their critical medical treatment and get transportation support.
- Achieved major policy victories that expanded access to care for millions of people on Medicare, including pioneering the conversation around “smoothing” out-of-pocket Medicare Part D costs, which earned widespread, bipartisan support and was passed into law.
- Used our voice and our relationships with the national patient advocacy community to advocate against harmful barriers to healthcare access, such as calling for the prohibition of co-pay accumulator programs and being the first charitable foundation to denounce alternative funding programs.
“For two decades, the PAN Foundation has been a leading voice and source of support for people who need financial assistance to access their prescription medications. At the same time, we’ve been advocating for and secured long-term policy solutions that put patients first and improve access to affordable, equitable healthcare,” said PAN Foundation President and CEO Kevin L. Hagan. “I’m proud to be part of this organization and look forward to our next 20 years of bigger, bolder, and braver work on behalf of patients’ access to care, with a commitment to accelerating and expanding our impact.”
By partnering with generous donors, healthcare professionals, and patient advocates, we’ll continue to provide patients with access to the healthcare treatments they need to best manage their conditions. Our grants help ease tremendous financial burden and stress, so that the tens of thousands of people we serve every year can focus on receiving the treatment they need and improving their quality of life.
We’ll continue our advocacy and education efforts with the aim of helping millions more patients each year—whether through our national research and polling to inform evidence-based healthcare policy, our free educational webinars and online resources, or our grassroots advocacy. We work to make sure patient voices are heard by policymakers, while also empowering patients to navigate our complex healthcare system.
For the last 20 years we have made improving access to healthcare our mission. Over the next 20 years, we are committed to bigger, bolder, and braver action on behalf of patients nationwide. Because our work is not done until everyone has access to affordable, equitable healthcare.
