Patient Access Network Foundation joins the Partnership for Part D Access to put patients first
The Patient Access Network (PAN) Foundation today joined the Partnership for Part D Access, a collection of 40 patient groups, advocacy organizations, and allied members of the healthcare industry committed to maintaining access to the full range of available medications under Medicare Part D.
The Partnership for Part D Access is specifically focused on ensuring that Medicare’s “Six Protected Classes” policy remains in place as an essential patient safeguard for individuals enrolled in Medicare Part D who are living with the most complex conditions. Policy proposals to limit access to certain medications under the Part D program would negatively impact some of the most vulnerable patients who rely on access to the full spectrum of treatment options.
“We are thrilled to join the Partnership for Part D Access and look forward to working together to maintain medication access for patients who are protected under Medicare’s ‘Six Protected Classes’ policy,” said PAN Foundation President and CEO Kevin L. Hagan. “Because we believe everyone deserves access to affordable, equitable healthcare.”
The Partnership for Part D Access works to coordinate efforts to address threats to medication access for Medicare Part D patients, educate federal policymakers on the important of maintaining the “Six Protected Classes” policy for Medicare Part D, and implement effective advocacy and communication strategies to protect consumer access.
“We are pleased to work alongside the PAN Foundation and know that they will be a valued voice as we aim to protect access for Medicare Part D patients,” said Partnership for Part D Access Executive Director Reyna Taylor.

About the Partnership for Part D Access
The Partnership for Part D Access is a collection of healthcare stakeholders, including patient groups, advocacy organizations and allied members of industry, who are committed to maintaining beneficiary access to the full range of available medications under Medicare Part D. We represent and care about individuals who would be negatively impacted by changes to Medicare’s “protected classes” policy. If changes to the policy were to go forward, it would directly, and negatively, impact persons with mental health conditions, epilepsy, Parkinson’s Disease, lupus, HIV/AIDS, cancer, and those needing organ transplants.
