PAN’s Week of Action 2025

September 8 - 12, 2025, nationwide from our virtual action center

Join PAN advocates from across the country in a national grassroots campaign urging Congress to make timely and equitable healthcare access for all a national priority.

Last year, advocates sent more than 1,400 emails to Congress during our Virtual Day of Action—making a real impact. This year, we’re extending that effort to a full week, continuing to ask Congress to stand up and champion change.

Each day during our virtual Week of Action—September 8-12, 2025—we’ll urge lawmakers to support a specific piece of legislation to make affordable, accessible healthcare a reality for all.

How do I join and make an impact?

Each day during our virtual Week of Action, you can:

  • Call or send email letters to your Congressional representatives easily using PAN’s advocacy action center tools, including a call script
  • Share PAN’s social media posts to build even more momentum for the day’s legislative action

Stay in the loop for Week of Action by following PAN, signing up for email alerts, and by saving this page in your bookmarks.

Week of Action schedule

Monday, September 8

Make ACA premium tax credits permanent

Ask Congress to make enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits permanent. These credits help many Americans afford health insurance, but they will expire at the end of 2025. If Congress doesn’t act, many could face higher premiums and lose coverage, delaying or skipping necessary care.

Tuesday, September 9

Streamline prior authorization process for Medicare Advantage plans

Urge Congress to support the Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act (H.R. 3514 / S. 1816). This bill would address these burdensome delays by requiring electronic and real-time prior authorization, establishing clear decision timelines, increasing transparency and more. Prior authorization, a cost-control process used by health plans, requires patients or healthcare providers to secure pre-approval from the patient’s health plan before receiving coverage for a prescribed medication or treatment. For far too many patients this requirement delays their treatment and often negatively impacts their health.

Wednesday, September 10

Reintroduce a bill to require step therapy to offer an exemption request

Ask lawmakers to reintroduce the Safe Step Act—critical legislation that targets step therapy protocols by building in exceptions to “fail-first” requirements. The Safe Step Act would require insurers to offer patients or their physicians a step therapy exemption request process, mandate insurers respond to an exemption request quickly if the patient’s life is at risk, and several other exemptions to step therapy protocols.

Thursday, September 11

Make obesity treatment medications accessible to millions on Medicare

For today’s advocacy focus, we’re asking Congress to support the Treat and Reduce Obesity Act (TROA) (H.R. 4231/ S. 1973). This bipartisan legislation will help ensure obesity treatment medications are accessible to millions of Medicare beneficiaries who currently do not have coverage through the federal program.
