The American Journal of Managed Care: Sustainable strategies for providing access to critical medications
Today’s health insurance system is far from perfect. Although Medicaid, Medicare, state exchanges, and employer-based health plans generally meet most individuals’ needs, unfortunately, approximately 31 million Americans find themselves underinsured. Many of these individuals live with life-threatening, chronic, and rare diseases, and struggle with access and affordability issues because of limited networks, restricted formularies, and high out-of-pocket costs.
The PAN Foundation published two winning research papers and case studies in The American Journal of Managed Care on the topic of innovative programs to mitigate financial toxicity for patients.
We hope that these papers and case studies will continue to stimulate a dialog about how to ease the financial burden and improve the quality of life for millions of patients and their families
