WASHINGTON – In a recent survey Patient Access Network (PAN) Foundation medical providers gave PAN’s medication copayment assistance services high marks – with an overall 99 percent satisfaction rating. PAN announced the survey results today in a live webcast.
Providers’ satisfaction with PAN was further reflected in the 92 percent of providers who said they were “very likely” or “likely” to choose PAN first when given a choice of copayment assistance organizations that offer similar services. PAN is a public charity dedicated to helping underinsured patients access needed treatments through medication copayment assistance.
“The overall survey results showed that medical providers like working with PAN and are happy with our services,” said Lyn Boocock-Taylor, PAN board chair. “Even more important, providers told us they see the real benefits and positive impact our assistance makes in patients’ lives.”
This past summer PAN surveyed 200 of its active medical providers to hear directly from stakeholders about their experiences in working with PAN and their perceptions of the impact PAN services have made on patients’ lives. This survey complemented a survey of PAN patients conducted earlier in the year.
Nearly 96 percent of providers said that PAN’s copayment assistance had a positive effect on their patients’ lives. Providers ranked reduced patient stress as the number one benefit, followed by an increased ability to cover medical bills, improved health and ability to begin or continue employment.
The survey also asked about the impact the economy is having on patients’ ability to receive medical care. Medical providers said that health-care costs were having a greater impact on their medication and treatment decisions this year than last, with nearly 81 percent of providers agreeing. Seventy-three percent of patients surveyed in February agreed.
Further information on the survey and about PAN is available at the PAN Web site. Since 2004, PAN has helped more than 66,000 patients across the United States and U.S. territories. PAN can be reached through the Web or toll-free at 1-866-316-7263, with Spanish speakers and information available.
