About the Disease

Neutropenia is a disorder associated with an abnormally low level of neutrophils, a type of white blood cell. It affects the circulatory system. Subtypes include acquired (idiopathic) neutropenia, autoimmune neutropenia, cyclic neutropenia, congenital neutropenia, neutropenia secondary to chemotherapy, and infection or drug-induced neutropenia.
