Patrick McKercher

 

Patrick McKercher, RPh, PhD, is President of Patient Access Network (PAN) Foundation. His career spans hospital pharmacy practice, academia and the pharmaceutical industry. As Executive Director for Corporate Initiatives at the Upjohn Company, a pharmaceutical company which eventually merged into the Pfizer Company, he was responsible for providing policy analysis and strategic advice to senior management and the Upjohn Washington office. His research and publications focus on pharmaceutical policy.

Dr. McKercher brings a unique set of experiences and skills to the office of President of this charitable foundation focused on providing financial assistance to patients facing hardship from cost-sharing burdens associated with progressive and innovative therapies. The unintended consequences of cost-sharing include barriers to access with the result of uninitiated or abandoned therapies. His value to PAN is bringing a keen awareness of the importance of compliance with anti-kickback statutes and resultant guidance provided by the Office of the Inspector General. His enthusiasm for therapies coupled with his research and involvement in health policy are a unique combination valuable to the mission of PAN.

Richard Goldstein

Richard Goldstein is the Chief Financial Officer of PAN Foundation. Richard has been the Chief Financial Officer at several organizations in the for-profit media, and not-for-profit education and community service sectors.He has extensive experience in restructuring distressed companies, mergers and acquisitions and has also provided voluntary tax assistance and financial advice to low income taxpayers.

Early in his career he worked for the accounting firm Ernst & Young simultaneously earning his CPA and MBA. Richard earned his BS in Accounting from the Syracuse University and his MBA from the Pace University. He is an avid golfer and loves baseball.

Jacinta Alves, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, manages PAN's compliance program and works closely with the President and PAN Board.

Svetlana Durkovic

 

Svetlana Durkovic, Director of Operations, manages PAN's operations including governance, communications, and research.

Prior to joining PAN, Svetlana worked with the American Sociological Association and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. – USA (IEEE-USA). She was trained in the human rights based approach methodology in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and has worked on various human rights projects for UNOHCHR, UNDP, and other organizations in BiH and the region. Starting in 2002, Svetlana also founded and served as Executive Director for the Organization Q, the first non-profit organization that worked on promotion of human rights of LGBTIQ persons in BiH. Svetlana earned her BA from the Longwood University in Anthropology and her MA from the University of Chicago in Social Sciences.

Taida Horozovic, Office Administrator, provides assistance to the President and supports the operations of the PAN office. 

Prior to joining PAN, Taida was the PR manager at Pristop BH, an affiliate of Weber Shandwick Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). She worked as the PR Associate for Open Society Fund BiH and OneWorld Southeast Europe. In 2004, Taida co-founded CURE, a BiH women’s rights foundation, and served as its director for seven years. Taida has over fifteen years of experience in nonprofit and private sectors’ organizational management. In 2012, she completed a Social Entrepreneurship residency at Stanford University. Taida studied Mass Communications at Bloomsburg University, PA.

Emily Kitchen, Associate Manager of External Relations, manages social media, peer-to-peer fundraising, donor/provider external communication, and also assists in the execution of PAN’s fundraising strategy.

Prior to joining PAN, Emily worked for Biotechnology Industry Organization in their Business Development department. Emily recently graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management and holds certificates with the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance and the Center on Philanthropy. Emily brings several years of working with a variety of nonprofit organizations and over 3 years in administrative experience.

William Johnson, Director of Business Development, manages PAN's business development operations.

Prior to joining PAN, Will spent over 10 years in the pharmaceutical and specialty pharmacy industries serving in a variety of sales and sales leadership positions. Will is adept at growing new markets and helping people overcome challenges associated with a complex healthcare system by providing education and support to solve their problems. Prior to his experiences in pharmaceuticals and specialty pharmacy Will served as a Communication Specialist for the Air Line Pilots Association and as a staff member to former U.S. Representative and U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln. Will earned his Bachelor's and Master of Public Administration degree from Arkansas State University.

Amy Niles, Director of Patient Advocacy and Professional Relations, responsible for developing and implementing PAN’s outreach strategy with third party organizations.

Prior to joining PAN, Amy served for eight years as Chair, Medical Relations and Advocacy for the Together Rx Access program. In this capacity, she developed alliances with hundreds of national and state organizations, leveraging programs and communications for creating awareness about Together Rx Access. Prior to joining Together Rx Access, Amy served as President and CEO of the National Women’s Health Resource Center (NWHRC), now known as HealthyWomen, for well over a decade. She began her career in health care administration in hospitals in New York and Washington, DC. Amy holds a master’s degree in business administration from Baruch College, City University of New York. She graduated the University of Rochester with an undergraduate degree in biology.

Neha Patel, Executive Assistant of External Relations, provides assistance to the Vice President of External Relations and Patient Services and the external relations team.

Prior to joining PAN, Neha worked as an Office Clerk for Capital Financial Group. She has held various administrative roles in the private sector including Research Assistant, Research Coordinator, and Administrative Assistant. Neha earned her BBA in Finance and MPH in Maternal and Child Health degrees from George Washington University. She brings 7 years of administrative work experience and six years of research work experience to PAN.

Drew Saelens, Director of External Relations, manages PAN’s fundraising and donor relationships.

Prior to joining PAN, Drew was a Senior Health Policy Manager at Applied Policy. In this role, he worked with clients to develop and execute policy and reimbursement tactics to complement their business strategies. Drew also provided client-specific analysis of health care industry policies, rules, and regulations, with a focus on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Drew holds a BS in Business Administration from The University of Richmond, and a MBA and Master of Government from The John Hopkins University.

Joel Straus, Senior Accountant, is responsible for assisting the CFO in all day to day accounting matters including financial statement preparation, report writing, revenue tracking, expense analysis and bill paying, among others.

Prior to joining PAN, Joel worked as a consultant for several years in various different organizations, assisting them in refining their accounting department operations.  Joel has over 15 years of experience in running and managing the operations of an accounting department.  Joel has worked in Technology companies, a newspaper and non-profits.  He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Northeastern Illinois University in Business Finance.
