Mr. Klein brings over 35 years of experience in health care and information technology services to the PAN Foundation. Mr. Klein came to PAN from the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Foundation, where he served as Senior Vice President for the CF Services pharmacy, and subsequently as Senior Vice President for Patient Access Programs.
 
His leadership at the CF Foundation was exemplified by the steady growth and eventual sale of the CF Services pharmacy to Walgreens. During his tenure at the CF Foundation, Mr. Klein also was responsible for the development of the CF Patient Assistance Foundation that provided financial assistance and case management services for people with cystic fibrosis.
 
Mr. Klein has had numerous leadership roles in the health care and information technology sectors, including as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Panurgy Corporation, a leading mid-market information technology services company, as well as a consultant on health planning and health promotion for the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, respectively.

Mr. Crout has over 30 years of experience in operations, finance, human resources and law. He previously held leadership positions with the City of Baltimore; Center for Vascular Medicine; DocSite, LLC; Panurgy Corporation; and Light Industries. Mr. Crout has a Juris Doctor degree from University of Baltimore School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

 

 

Scott Schlenoff, Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Schlenoff brings over 11 years of financial management experience to the PAN Foundation. Mr. Schlenoff was formerly a Controller at PAN Foundation. He previously worked at the Cystic Fibrosis Services, Inc. where he served as Controller and oversaw and managed all financial aspects of the organization. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland at College Park.

 

 

Chris Schrader, Chief Technology Officer (CTO)/Chief Information Officer (CIO)

Mr. Schrader works closely with the CEO and the COO on the overall architecture, design, development, and maintenance of PAN’s technological infrastructure. He worked for 16 years as a technology and management consultant, and has extensive experience solving corporate technology issues and implementing corporate technical strategies. He holds an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering from the George Washington University.

Ms. Niles oversees the development and implementation of provider and professional relations, and public advocacy strategies. Before joining the PAN Foundation, Ms. Niles served for eight years as Chair, Medical Relations and Advocacy for the Together Rx Access program. Prior to that, she was President and CEO of the National Women’s Health Resource Center, now known as Healthy Women, for more than a decade. Ms. Niles has a Master of Business Administration degree from Baruch College, City University of New York, and an undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Rochester.

 

 

Drew Saelens, Vice President of Development

Mr. Saelens oversees the PAN Foundation’s fundraising efforts and donor relationships. Prior to joining the PAN Foundation, he was a Senior Health Policy Manager at Applied Policy, where he worked with clients to develop and execute policy and reimbursement tactics to complement their business strategies and provided client-specific analysis of health care industry policies, rules, and regulations, with a focus on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Mr. Saelens has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from The University of Richmond, and a Master of Business Administration degree and Master of Government degree from The John Hopkins University.

 

Stu Cherande-Friedman, Director of Program Management

Mr. Cherande-Friedman is responsible for overseeing the operation and delivery of PAN’s patient assistance programs. Mr. Cherande-Friedman brings over 15 years of experience in operations, technology, finance, policy and analytics to the PAN Foundation. He previously held positions with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Bulfinch Group, B&D Consulting and Powell Goldstein. Mr. Cherande-Friedman has a Master of Health Science degree from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Denison University.

Margaret Figley, Director of Communications

Ms. Figley oversees PAN’s communications and public relations initiatives. She has more than 10 years of communications experience at nonprofit and advocacy organizations in the health care sector. Prior to joining the PAN Foundation, she held communications positions at the American Hospital Association, the New York State Health Foundation, and the Greater New York Hospital Association. Ms. Figley has a Master of Public Administration degree in Health Policy and Administration from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and International Politics from George Mason University.

Will Johnson, Director of Provider Relations

Mr. Johnson manages PAN's medical provider and pharmacy outreach. Prior to joining the PAN Foundation, Mr. Johnson spent over 10 years in the pharmaceutical and specialty pharmacy industries serving in a variety of sales and sales leadership positions. Earlier in his career, Mr. Johnson served as a Communication Specialist for the Air Line Pilots Association and as a staff member to former U.S. Representative and U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln. Mr. Johnson has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Master of Public Administration degree from Arkansas State University.

Mr. Straus is responsible for assisting the CFO in all accounting matters, including financial statement preparation, report writing, revenue tracking, expense analysis and bill paying. He has over 15 years of experience in running and managing the operations of accounting departments in the nonprofit, technology, and newspaper industries. Prior to joining the PAN Foundation, Mr. Straus worked as a consultant, assisting organizations with refining their accounting department operations. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Finance from Northeastern Illinois University.

Ms. Azam assists the Director of Donor Relations with strategic projects and day-to-day tasks related to PAN’s donors and programming. Prior to joining the PAN Foundation, Ms. Azam was a Patient Access Specialist at the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Foundation. She implemented a prior authorization solution to reduce administrative burdens at CF clinics and developed insurance content for the CF community. Ms. Azam has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and a Master of Science degree in Health Informatics Administration from the University of Maryland University College.

Barbara Barb, Manager of Human Resources and Administration

Ms. Barb works closely with the Chief Operating Officer to manage initiatives related to the Board of Directors, human resource administration and office administration. She has more than 25 years of experience working in nonprofit organizations in the areas of office administration, human resources and finance. She previously held positions at the Outdoor Advertising Association of America and the American Clean Skies Foundation. Ms. Barb has a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

 

Bruce Barth, Manager of Data Analytics and Reporting

Mr. Barth is responsible program data management and reporting at the PAN Foundation. He has more than 20 years of experience in business intelligence and data warehousing. Prior to joining the PAN Foundation, Mr. Barth was the Program Manager and Technical Director of Business Intelligence for the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases, where he focused on performance management for worldwide AIDS funding and transitional bioinformatics. He previously served as Global Business Intelligence Architect for Booz Allen Hamilton, General Manager of the Business Intelligence Division of Sybase for Asia/Latin America, and as Vice President and co-founder of Entrada Software, a business intelligence manufacturing software start-up. Mr. Barth holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bard College and a Master of Business Administration degree from UC Berkeley.

 

Stacey Brown, Business Analyst

Ms. Brown works closely with the Director of Program Management to evaluate and enhance PAN’s customer experience by implementing system and process improvements and managing and tracking customer and quality issues to resolution. She has more than 17 years of healthcare experience in contracting, network operations, pharmacy licensing and provider relations. Prior to joining  the PAN Foundation, Ms. Brown was the Manager of Contracting and Project Management for Cystic Fibrosis Services (CFS) at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Ms. Horozovic manages the PAN Foundation’s digital media projects. She has over 15 years of experience in nonprofit and private sector organizational management. Prior to joining the PAN Foundation, Ms. Horozovic was the PR manager at Pristop BH, an affiliate of Weber Shandwick Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and worked as a PR Associate for Open Society Fund BiH and OneWorld Southeast Europe. In 2004, Ms. Horozovic co-founded CURE, a BiH women’s rights foundation, and served as its director for seven years. Ms. Horozovic studied Mass Communications at Bloomsburg University and completed a social entrepreneurship residency at Stanford University.

Ms. Patel assists the Director of Donor Relations with managing donor relations and identifying new donor and fund opportunities. Prior to joining the PAN Foundation, Ms. Patel was a Health Policy Associate at Applied Policy, where she worked with clients to understand and navigate the complexities of health policy and reimbursement issues, and provided client-specific analyses of health care policies, rules, regulations, and guidances, with a focus on the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Ms. Patel has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from James Madison University, and a Master in Public Health degree with a concentration in Health Management and Policy, from the University of North Texas Health Science Center.

Megan Piette, Office Administrator and Marketing Associate

Ms. Piette assists in all aspects of general office operations and administration and supports PAN’s marketing and communications initaitives. She previously worked with the National Audubon Society, and 2 Seconds or Less, an agricultural and health education organization operating in Zimbabwe. Ms. Piette has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Messiah College.
