Patients Give PAN Extremely High Marks in Latest Survey
WASHINGTON, DC, October 20, 2011 – Patient Access Network (PAN) is pleased to announce the results of its 2011 patient survey. Patients reported very high satisfaction with PAN services and that PAN's assistance significantly increases their ability to comply with their medical regimen.
The survey found that a high out-of-pocket expense associated with medication is the biggest reason for patients failing to begin or continue treatment. In fact, less than 50 percent of respondents reported they were able to take their medications as prescribed prior to receiving financial assistance from PAN. With assistance from PAN, that number rose to 98 percent.
“The annual patient survey is important to PAN not only because it highlights the value of the services we provide for our recipients, but also because it demonstrates what is important to these patients and how our services impact their lives,” said PAN President Pat McKercher.
Key survey findings included:
- 97 percent of patients surveyed are satisfied with PAN services, citing PAN’s stress-free application, quick turnaround, and knowledgeable and empathetic customer service representatives as valuable resources
- 95 percent of survey respondents are satisfied with PAN’s application process
- More than 95 percent of survey respondents are satisfied with PAN’s “high-touch” approach to customer service
“PAN has helped me more than I can say,” wrote one survey respondent. “I would not be able to continue treatment without your assistance.”
The survey was completed by 511 PAN copayment assistance recipients in July 2011. Patients answered questions about their satisfaction with PAN services and the impact PAN has made on their ability to pay for and comply with their treatment(s).

PAN’s 33 existing disease funds cover conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, metastatic breast cancer and hepatitis c. PAN provides grants of $1,500 to $15,000 per year to qualified patients to help pay for medications for these diseases.
